Our Australian Sheppard's
A friend of ours had a
litter of Aussie pups, and wanted us to come over to see them. When we went by to
see the puppies, this one in particular started untying my shoes, and the little
ball of fur kept sitting on my feet. Needless to say, he went home with us..
And his name was Max.

Max & Bobby
Max went everywhere we went around the farm, he took every step we took. He was
our shadow, you couldn't sneak out of the house without him knowing it either, I
tried.
Max would be there before the door shut behind you.
He loved playing games with our Stallion Smoke, they would chase each other back
and forth, all over that round pen. Max was always there to be our helper when
we were working the horses, or doing other chores.

In January of 2000 we had to leave for a few hours, when we got back home Max was gone. I drove the roads for days, and knocked on peoples doors asking if they had seen him. Dean rode his horses all over the country looking for him, with no luck.
On Valentines Day I was in town and run into Bub, he told me that Max's puppies were born just that morning and I needed to come by and pick out my puppy. I had already made up my mind that I didn't want a puppy. There was no way a puppy could take the place of Max. After several days Dean took me by to see the puppies, one look and I was hooked again.
Maxine and Angel came home with me, Maxine looks like Max, but Angel is the one who acts the most like him. They are just like two peas in a pod, where one is, the other one is right there or not far away. And where we are, they are right there with us.
Except when they go hunting, if you don't get there when they are treed, they get the squirrel by themselves. I guess they learned by watching Dean jump squirrels out. If there is a grapevine or bush close by, Angel will grab it with her mouth and shake it trying to get the squirrel to jump out. When the squirrel does jump out Maxine is after it.
We don't know for sure
what happened to you, but where ever you are Max,
Thanks for the Valentines presents that you left for us.
